PN-GISD offers a wide range of TEA accredited educational opportunities, from early childhood through grade twelve. PN-G High School is also accredited by Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The curriculum is structured to serve all students--both the college-bound and the work-oriented student.
PN-GISD students consistently perform well on standardized measures of achievement. TAAS scores are consistently above state and national averages. Other testing measures also indicate strong academic preparation.
On the primary levels, the emphasis is on the basic skills of reading, writing, and arithmetic, including individualized instruction for both remedial and enrichment purposes.
At the middle school level the students are introduced to a departmentalized program. In addition to basic subjects, exploration in art, music, band, industrial arts, computer literacy, foreign languages, and homemaking are offered.
Port Neches-Groves High School offers a broad curriculum of the required courses plus electives. Vocational electives include pre-employment courses and work programs. Fine arts, foreign languages, computer applications, social sciences, computer math, journalism, careers, and homemaking are some of the choices. A tech-prep program has also been implemented. Advanced math and science electives round out the curriculum.
On all levels enrichment opportunities include honors courses and participation in UIL competition in literary, speaking, business, math, and science events.
Students with learning disabilities or handicaps requiring special services are provided special education curriculum.
PN-GISD operates under the direction of the Texas Education Agency and in conjunction with Region V Education Service Center.
