- My grades will reflect student academic progress.
- I usually take two or more grades per week in Science.
- I give at least one chapter test and one vocabulary test per six weeks in Science (formal assessments.)
- Study Guides will be given usually one week prior to the Chapter test. The Lesson Summary pages cover the main objectives of the chapter. Several questions from the study guide will appear on the Chapter test as well as "new questions" that will require application of concepts taught.
- Chapter tests will be in a multiple choice format.
- Vocabulary cards and list will be given to students usually a week prior to separate vocabulary test on test day.
- Daily grades (informal assessments) will consist of worksheets over information covered in textbooks, Science reading passages with related questions, and participation in labs.
- Missing lab activities due to absence will not be made up, nor will it affect grade (a no-grade will be entered)
- Second chances on formal and informal assessments will be given at teacher discretion. Second chances are usually given on the vocabulary part of daily worksheet and an average will be given between the original grade and new grade.
- Extra credit is not usually given on formal and informal assessments. If extra credit is offered, it will usually be available to all students.
- Late assignments may have points deducted from earned grade if late work becomes a habit. This will be determined at teacher's discretion.
- Penalties for no heading or name may be applied at teacher's discretion, usually a 5 point deduction.
