Hello!!
My name is Vanessa Perry-Tease and I am excited to start my new teaching journey at Port Neches- Groves High School as ASL (American Sign Language) teacher!! I graduated from Lamar University in 2019, with a degree in Secondary Mathematics Education with a minor of ASL.
I was born Deaf and I wear a Cochlear Implant on the right side of my head to assist me to hear, but it does not always work so I use sign language interpreters to gain communication access between myself and other people around me.
I was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas to a hearing (non-deaf) family and they do sign little bit, but I also can speak since I was raised orally. I worked as a Deaf Support Specialist/Teacher Aide for the RDSPD (Regional Day School Program for the Deaf) which is known as Deaf Education at North East ISD, the school district where I went and graduated.
This year I will be teaching ASL 1 through ASL 4 at PN-G. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me by email or video phone.
I cannot wait to meet the new faces and have an amazing year with everyone!!
