Mrs. Diane Duplant

I am a 1978 graduate of Stephen F/ Austin High School in Port Acres, TX.  The school no longer exists except for the beautiful memories I have.  I worked in the public sector having many interesting jobs such as:  a Court Clerk for the Honorable John W. Knowles.  I worked at Park Place Hospital for 15 years doing several office jobs.  And, can you believe this....I was an EMT, drove and ambulance and administered aid to the injured.  All the these jobs were great but they didn't fulfill my what I had in my heart all along.  I wanted nothing more than to be a teacher.  So,I went back to school and in December of 2005, I graduated with honors from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies (BS in Education :)  It was one of the proudest moments of my life until I entered my first classroom as a writing teacher at Groves Elementary.  My heart swelled with pride as I met each one of my students.  That feeling has never stopped.  I have also taught 3rd grade and Kindergarten and I'm so excirted to begin this year in 2nd grade. I still have that strong feeling of pride every morning I greet my students and I want them to feel proud to be part of our classroom family as well.

I am married to Chris who was a 1977 graduate of PNG.  We have one beautiful daughter, Carly.  She is a senior at Lamar University where she is a music ed major.  She is in the Marching band where she is one of the drum majors.  She is also the 1st chair clarinet player in the Wind Ensemble (the top concert band at Lamar.)  Her daddy and I are very proud of her.
